For DENSO GmbH from Leverkusen, the creators of the DENSO-Bandage, a plastic seal wrap to protect pipes from corrosion that was first patented in 1929, AOE media built a completely new TYPO3-based website, including an online shop in just four months. Visitors can now access far more detailed information than was previously the case on the comprehensive product portfolio of corrosion protection measures and sealant technology available from this internationally active company.
Set up in six languages, both for the parent company and all its worldwide subsidiaries, the new website entirely meets the needs of the client’s building industry customers. An entirely new navigation structure was developed. A particularly clear menu enables fast and easy navigation to the required information or product description from the “Infrastructure” or “Pipelines” sections.
The new DENSO site offers a wealth of information on the company, its history and its well-known quality products for corrosion protection of pipelines and in the field of sealant technologies for road and rail construction as well as industrial engineering. Information on this diverse range of products can be found in the “Product” section. Visitors can reach the product application of their choice in just three clicks. Thanks to easily understood navigation, one glance is all it takes to see which product matches which type of use. Together with a comprehensive product description, each individual product page also offers technical documentation, downloadable from a bucket box in the sidebar. In addition, a further bucket box contains an offer inquiry form that automatically links to a specially developed TYPO3 contact form.
One particular highlight of the site is the inbuilt shop system, specially implemented for DENSO and available at any time. This enables the user to send an order form for several DENSO products from a variety of application areas, via an order form from the “Service” menu that is especially laid out to match his project requirements.
The two-tiered shop system, based on the standard TYPO3 e-Commerce extension "commerce" is adapted in such a way that every product can be chosen according to its article number and its package size. As in any typical shop system, any number of articles can be placed in the shopping list and then transferred, via the shopping cat button, into an order. The advantage: shoppers can order their own material themselves; a DENSO specialist will then see to it that all the necessary information material is included with the order.
Particular attention has been paid to the availability of DENSO employees to their potential customers. The “Contact” heading not only accesses a contact form, but also a list of the various department staffers and their contact details that one can refer to if needed. In addition the DENSO site includes a section on the company’s worldwide distribution network. A specialty here: the continental area and then the individual country can be called up on a Flash animated, AJAX-based map of the world. AOE media’s latest extension “distribution network” then draws the address and full contact details of the appropriate accredited dealer for that particular region from the MySQL databank and delivers them to a bucket box in the sidebar.
To also give the user a visual impression of some of the particularly complex DENSO special products, a picture gallery was also implemented in TYPO3. The DENSO site is rounded off by a very complete news and trade fair section, for which AOE media customized a special extension. This extension also manages the downloading of technical documentation in PDF format on diverse aspects of infrastructure and pipelines.
