New DQS web platform now online

02. November 2009

The customers of Germany’s leading quality certification company, DQS GmbH (Deutsche Qualitätssicherung), a member of the world-wide DQS-UL-Group, can take advantage of a new service feature. Under a common TYPO3 roof, the complete online offer of the entire group, including the different national services, has been conceived and implemented by AOE media. The web platform, which has been 15 months in development, supports the worldwide operations of almost a hundred DQS online editors in 45 languages.

Not only was a multi-lingual and informative company web platform developed for DQS, but also, thanks to the integrated and secure MYDQS web portal, a fully scalable enterprise solution to support the workflow between end-users, DQS staff and their auditors. The new TYPO3 solution enables most of the information necessary for the certification process to be easily accessed via the new online service, or new certification procedures to be launched by an auditor. This means that the various national sites of DQS-UL Group subsidiaries, such as DQS GmbH in Germany, additionally includes various useful tools within the MYDQS web portal to make it more user-friendly and efficient for everyone concerned. Together with an integrated customer databank featuring every single certificate ever issued by the DQS Group, this solution also enables certificate applications currently being processed by a particular consultant or auditor to be tracked within the DQS website.

A major part of the work involved in this comprehensive project went into the specification, implementation and documentation of the various interfaces for the globally applicable document management system (DMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Databank systems of the DQS-UL Group. The reason for this was that within this international concern, several specialized solutions were already in place, such as Dynamics AX-ERP from Microsoft or the DMS solutions from EASY or Scanview. In addition to this, much of the available data from the various DQS continental locations has been subjected to different processing procedures. Even in those countries using the same DMS or ERP systems, the data had often been structured entirely differently. In order to enable the seamless exchange of these diverse data formats and structures between TYPO3 and the MYDQS services and the commercial systems concerned, they all had to first be transformed into a common denominator via a high performance “Import client” before being filed into the new system. This means that it is now possible to import current validated data of the same structure and format into the TYPO3/MYDQS solution, which can then be easily compared with the entire audit workflow and displayed onscreen via the web browser.
