TYPO3 - your junction for a multi-language global web-presence

TYPO3 is the world's leading Web Content Management system. No other CMS system, whether Open Source or license-based, is more widely used than TYPO3.  It is estimated that there are currently more than 500.000 TYPO3 installations in use. The reason for this considerable popularity is clear: TYPO3 is, to all intents and purposes, "Feature Complete".

No other server-based Content Management System already offers all the required functions for international, multi-linguistic web-pages in its basic version.

A summary of the most important features for a global presence:

Multi-Site-Management

Via its backend, TYPO3 enables the creation and administration of not just one website or portal, but as many as you like. With a single TYPO3 installation you can create and administrate several domains, thus reflecting the entire scope of an internationally active and multi-facetted business in your internet presence.

Content - whether text or Graphic elements, or entire pages and page directories - can be transferred between, copied or referenced from the different online outlets. Extensions or data sets from one platform can also be routed for use by another platform within a T3 installation.

A further significant advantage for the efficient operation of several global websites with TYPO3 must be the individual assignment of user access rights. Thus access for site editors can be restricted to specific pages within a platform, or enlarged to include others.

Multi-Language Management

Alongside the possibility of administering several sites at once, TYPO3 also offers a highly flexible multi-language concept with the option of individual or multi-tree approach. A multi-tree approach means that an individual page-tree is written for every language version, which is particularly useful for websites whose language versions are very different from one another in their structure and logically require a separate version.

Multi-lingual web outlets, which are created by translation agencies and can thus be logically integrated into the same tree, enable the creation of highly complex Multi-Language Fallbacks.  In even the most basic version, for example, a company that has migrated to the USA can, by using such fallback functions, replace missing German-language content with its English variant.

Using the "Language Visibility" extension, a proprietary development from AOE media, even more complex fallback are possible: for example, a missing German version would first be replaced by the English version from the UK site, or, failing that, fall back to the "mother content" from the USA.

With the Multi-Language Fallback Function, even regional specifics and preferences can be flexibly taken into account. While a French user may not wish to see any English content, a Chinese user might have little problem with English content if his own language is not available.

Localisation & Translation

By using a further AOE media proprietary development, the "Localization Manager" extension for TYPO3, a direct XML connection can be set up to the best known translation tools such as Trados, DéjaVu, Across and others.

The re-imported finished translation can then be edited directly into the TYPO3 Workspace. An integrated preview also exists to enable direct comparison of the different language versions.

High-Traffic Hosting

Nothing is more important for globally active companies than to be accessible 24/7. To this end, AOE media relies on the worldwide Server-farm network of our partner Akamai to ensure complete accessibility for globally published and distributed websites.

This world leader in Content Delivery networks offers the highest degree of security and permanent accessibility. In addition, we rely on high density access Cluster-Network servers to deliver dynamic web content as well as a well-proven and refined caching concept, which only calls up the genuinely new and necessary content, thus reducing loading times to a minimum.

LDAP connectivity and more...

Further functions for the development and support of global websites include connectivity to LDAP or ActiveDirectory permits, data comparison with any database, and a complex Multi-Level workflow management, so that even the most sophisticated business purchase processes can be imaged in the CMS.

And these are only the most important reasons why TYPO3 is the convincing choice of so many companies and concerns. We would be happy to demonstrate further advantages of a global TYPO3 solution in the context of a personal presentation.
