Vivico Real Estate GmbH

For the website of the real-estate developer Vivico Real Estate, the existing Content Management System was replaced by TYPO3. Numerous modules were especially developed, such as the integration of a webcam with which the progress of construction on different building sites can be monitored in time-lapse.

Founded in 2001, Vivico was from its earliest days one of Germany’s leading companies, successfully navigating the change from the administratin of real-estate to real-estate development. In December 2007 CA Immo, an Austrian company that had for some years based its web presence on TYPO3, won control of Vivico. In order to optimize the synergies between the two branches of the new firm, it was decided to replace the existing CMS. The idea was to exchange the 8-year-old proprietary SCHOLZ & VOLKMER CMS solution with a license-charge-free TYPO3 system. The Team from SCHOLZ & VOLKMER sought out the expertise of AOE media for the task.

The guidelines were clear: the established core functions of the previous system should remain. Thus a particular challenge would be the conversion of all these functions. However, thanks to the comprehensive nature of the TYPO3 Extension Portfolio, this could be realized using available TYPO3 extensions and keeping new programming to a minimum.

To give an example: using the Digital Asset Management extension, AOE media created a photo gallery which enables important image editing tasks to be carried out in the Backend. A further highlight is the connection and publication of the real-estate databank from which a range of property images and descriptions can be viewed or downloaded. A special webcam module was also created for the site, with which the current state of construction on a choice of properties under development can be monitored in time-lapse.

The new TYPO3 website, while not unsettling its users with too many entirely new features, nonetheless now runs on a clean and fully scalable Open Source basis, thus greatly simplifying future integration with the CA Immo web pages.
