Quadrant is a leading manufacturer of technical plastic materials for a number of industries like Automotive, Food, Alternative Energy etc. As a global player, Quadrant needs a web presence that integrates all business units under one roof and can be easily maintained by the responsible people worldwide. The challenge was to integrate all of the markets into one website and make the relevant content available to the target groups with only a few clicks – a task for the leading Enterprise CMS TYPO3. Of particular significance for the platform is the product and industry solution finder AOE media implemented for Quadrant. This is what makes the website an online toolbox, designed for users to quickly and easily find their desired plastic solution.

The goal was not to implement a content management system for a consistent global presence, but to completely redesign the entire website . When contracting with AOE media, TYPO3 was still new territory for Quadrant. The plastics pioneer was convinced by the market insight and the concept for the target groups as well as the complete solution offered: AOE media revised and partly altered corporate design, redesigned the website, implemented TYPO3 and integrated every business unit and group of editors into one platform. Through the combined skills concept, design and development, AOE media was able to offer Quadrant a one-stop service. Right from the start, Quadrant was sure to have made the right decision. And last but not least the fact that TYPO3 is open source played an important role, too – no license fees!

With the solution finder mentioned above, customers are now able to find the desired product or solution with only two clicks from the starting pagehomepage.

Technical highlights of the project:

• Workspace Frontend-Preview: For Quadrant, AOE media developed a Workspace Preview Extension. The workflow for correction, approval and publication is now available directly in the frontend with automated notifications. This way, a login into the backend and backend-training for editors or responsible persons  are no longer necessary.
• Localization with GEO IP concept: For Quadrant, AOE media used a combination of the single and the multi-tree concept for backend localization: the side trees of the business units have language and regional settings that cover the whole tree. The resulting cross-page synchronization process significantly reduces the workload for Quadrant. The system localizes the user with his location and language settings automatically with the help of a sequential query of IP address and browser settings.
• Quick-Contact-Flag: A context-sensitive contact function offers a quick contact for the user, matching market, language, industry, region and product.
