For more than 30 of Panasonic's european national websites, AOE media implemented a Search as a Service full text search based on Apache Solr. The independent enterprise search solution is called "Searchperience" and was successfully launched for the first Panasonic national website in just two weeks. Further countries followed.

The enterprise web search solution, which has been specially adapted to Panasonic’s branding, features proactive auto-suggest for faster search input. If the word entered brings up no results, fuzzy search suggests terms the user might have been looking for. It also calls up synonyms, such as “refrigerator” if the term entered was “ice-box”. The search results – text, images or links – are sorted in categories, such as products or new releases, which can be further refined by filters. Thus you can search for all digital cameras that are red and cost less than 250 €. Panasonic’s editors can also decide if and when a particular product should be preferred over another in the search rankings.

Behind Searchperience lies the Open Source search engine Apache Solr with an admin area based on TYPO3 for managing and configuring the search function, and a proprietary intelligent crawler developed by AOE media. The crawler automatically indexes and analyzes any URLs entered by Panasonic – without the need for pre-loaded structured data in the shape of XML or CSV tables. It not only recognizes types of content, it also identifies their semantic structure on the basis of pre-defined samples. The search itself is carried out within AOE media’s Dedicated Private Cloud and linked to Panasonic’s existing Content Management System via a simple HTML-snippet.
