PALM is a California based manufacturer of PDAs and smartphones. The company has been a subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard since 2010 and operates under the name of HP Palm. The smartphone operating system HP webOS is the successor to Palm OS. It is based on a Linux kernel and was introduced in 2009. At http://developer.palm.com, developers find a platform that offers information on the OS, podcasts, resources on various topics, an API guide, access to the developer community and many more features.
HP PALM chose TYPO3 because the content management system best fit their purpose. Features, flexibility, and sustainability where the convincing factors for the Californians. Open source specialist AOE media with its global setup and operating from six locations, was contracted with the deployment of the entire developer portal. TYPO3 and AOE media had been recommended to PALM by the San Francisco based design agency, Hot Studio,, who also designed the user interface of the developer platform. HOT studio and AOE media have already cooperated on several tech-projects, e.g. Parallels and Cisco WebEx.
