The project entailed the re-launch of Akton’s existing Internet presence. The goal was to have a simple site that could be quickly and effectively maintained. Concept and layout were the client’s own, who already had TYPO3 know-how available in-house.
It was particularly important for Atkon AG that the site be clearly structured, and that its Content Management would be based on an optimized version of their already established TYPO3 solution. It was equally clear that standards such as barrier-freedom, search engine compatibility etc. would be adhered to.
It was of significant importance to the client that the finished site could be maintained by staffers without any particular IT experience. Background: Atkon’s international reach, and thus the ongoing need for updating of the reference section, often demands short term editing.
By organizing navigation into three levels, and with the inclusion of standard elements as building blocks, a firm foundation was laid that fulfilled the “easy to use” requirement. Details such as Flash integration on the home page, simple conversion into capital letters via CSS, data output in Flash format, mouse-over information flagging etc., are further user-friendly aspects of this successful re-launch.
Upon completion, the project’s managers at Atkon specifically mentioned their complete satisfaction with AOE media’s performance.
