AOE Relaunch

06. July 2009

At www.aoemedia.com you will now find the website of this market- and technology-leader in a new look and with a host of new features. Particularly worthy of mention is the attention that has been paid to making the site's structure as user-friendly as possible. Visitors, both new and old, will find everything they need to know about the company's comprehensive range of services, its history and its previous projects.

The section on TYPO3 jumps right out of the box: anyone interested in learning about this license-free and powerful Web Content Management System without having to sift through piles of English lanaguage documentation will gain a fast but detailed insight into the functioning principles and possibilities of TYPO3. This area will in the future become a key contact zone for those looking for answers on the subject of TYPO3 from within the German-speaking world.

Not only visually and structurally, but also technically speaking, the site is entirely new. A wealth of new functions have been implemented, many of which are based on custom-designed TYPO3 extensions. The AOE media developers are particularly proud of their powerful new reference extension, which sources from a database-based store of client summaries that can be accessed on demand. For the relaunch, AOE has prepared an array of nearly 100 different project references … and more are being uploaded all the time.

For the site's relaunch, over 30 new Flexible Content Elements (FCEs) were created, the Backend-structure was simplified for easier operation by staff, the TemplaVoilĂ  module was reworked and multi-lingual facilities with an automatic language changer were installed, so that new content in any given language - or complete new language versions - can be easily maintained or edited at any time. Currently there are language versions available for German and English, as well as special versions for the USA and Australia, which make use of AOE media's custom-developed Language Visibility Function, an extension that localizes only those parts of the content that are actually onscreen, in order to ensure multiple fallbacks for the remainder. With multi-language fallbacks, a website with the nearest suitable language will be accessed if the original lanaguage page is not available, e.g. US English page switches to UK English when a translation is not available.
