For ads-tec GmbH, from Leinfelden-Echterdingen, near Stuttgart, one of Germany’s main technology providers for large companies and groups in the field of Automation, Data and System technology, AOE media replaced their previous web presence with a bilingual German/English Open Source Web CMS in TYPO3.

ads-tec GmbH offers a wide ranging assortment of specialized products for automated and industrial data-technology solutions. For this reason, alongside the appropriate layout and look of the two-language site, particular attention was paid to implementing a fast and easy menu based on AJAX header fields. A simple click on any of the eight product areas brings the visitor straight to the chosen product range. A second step brings up a detailed information page on any individual product. Adapting the JavaScript codes of the header menus for all common internet browsers was particularly time consuming, as the fine-tuning required careful attention.

Special care was also taken to ensure that users’ product inquiries are made as easy as possible. To this end an entirely new TYPO3 form extension was conceived, programmed and integrated into the site by AOE media developers. The new extension enables potential customers to refer directly to the product they have just seen and pre-configured to their specifications. The desired quantity of different products can be entered via the inquiry form. Once the quantity has been entered, the user is asked for his address details and then the form can be sent. For the data to be stored during sending in the MySQL-TYPO3 databank so that ads-tec staffers can access it later, a databank chart was created and adapted.

Alongside the comprehensive product presentation online, whose content can easily be altered and updated in TYPO3 by ads-tec editors, the site also offers further useful material for the visitor, such as a special area where one can quickly find drivers, software, product handbooks or presentation brochures for download. There is also a news zone offering further information which can be found in the right sidebar and is linked via a specially adapted extension to the appropriate news page.

Standard TYPO3 functions such as an automatically created sitemap or the integrated search function in the navigation area round out the ads-tec website.
